Remake serialu telewizyjnego „Hunter x Hunter” z 1999 roku, opartego na mandze autorstwa Yoshihiro Togashiego. Łowca to osoba, która przemierza świat, wykonując najróżniejsze niebezpieczne zadania – od schwytania przestępców po poszukiwanie zaginionych skarbów w głębi nieznanych krain. Gon to młody chłopiec, którego ojciec – będący Łowcą – dawno temu zaginął. Gon wierzy, że jeśli sam pójdzie śladami ojca, pewnego dnia uda mu się z nim ponownie się spotkać. Po ukończeniu 12 lat Gon opuszcza dom i podejmuje się zadania przystąpienia do egzaminu na Łowcę, znanego z niskiego wskaźnika zdawalności i wysokiego prawdopodobieństwa śmierci, aby zostać oficjalnym Łowcą. Podczas egzaminu zaprzyjaźnia się z kierowanym pragnieniem zemsty Kurapicą, przyszłym lekarzem Leorio oraz buntowniczym byłym zabójcą Killuą, a ich przyjaźń przetrwa liczne próby i zagrożenia, z jakimi zmagają się, podejmując niebezpieczną karierę Łowcy.
